How to Add Halloween Product Labels to Shopify Without Coding

ShopifyHalloweenProduct LabelsTutorial

You can add seasonal labels to Shopify product cards without manually editing theme code. The key is to choose a clear message, target the correct products, and test the result before publishing.

This guide uses MP Trust Badges & Labels and walks through the complete workflow for a Halloween campaign.

Before you begin

Prepare the products you want to feature, the label message you want shoppers to see, and the campaign start and end dates. If you plan to target by product tag, add that tag in Shopify first.

Step 1: Install MP Trust Badges & Labels

Open the app listing and select Install. Review the permissions shown by Shopify, choose the correct store, and complete the installation.

Install MP Trust Badges & Labels and start your Halloween campaign.

After installation, open the app from your Shopify admin. If your theme requires an app embed or app block, follow the in-app setup prompt and save the theme configuration.

Step 2: Choose a Halloween label

Select a label that matches the purpose of the campaign. For example:

  • Halloween Sale for products included in a seasonal discount.
  • Limited Edition for a temporary product, color, or package.
  • Spooky Bestseller for a proven top seller.
  • New for Halloween for a seasonal launch.
  • Last Chance for the genuine final stage of the campaign.

Keep the label text short enough to remain readable on mobile product cards. If you are still choosing a message, browse the 20+ Halloween product label ideas.

Step 3: Select products or target a product tag

Choose the products that should receive the label. For a small campaign, manual product selection gives you direct control. For a collection that changes frequently, a product tag can be easier to maintain.

A simple tag workflow looks like this:

  1. Add a tag such as halloween-2026 to qualifying products in Shopify.
  2. Create the label campaign in the app.
  3. Set the targeting rule to include products with that tag.
  4. Add or remove the tag as the campaign assortment changes.

Use a campaign-specific tag instead of a broad tag such as sale. This reduces the risk of applying Halloween creative to unrelated products.

Step 4: Configure display rules

Define where and when the label should appear. Available options can vary by theme and app configuration, so use the in-app preview as the source of truth.

Review:

  • The targeted products or tags.
  • The storefront surfaces where the label will display.
  • Label position on the product image.
  • Size and spacing on desktop and mobile.
  • Conflicts with sale badges, sold-out messages, quick-add controls, or review stars.

If two campaigns could apply to the same item, decide which message should take priority. A shopper rarely needs to see more than one promotional label on a product card.

Step 5: Set the start and end schedule

Scheduling prevents seasonal creative from appearing too early or remaining live after the campaign.

Choose:

  • A start date and time aligned with the promotion launch.
  • An end date and time aligned with the actual offer.
  • The correct store time zone.
  • A replacement plan for the final campaign phase, if needed.

For example, you could run New for Halloween from September 15 through October 14, then publish Last Chance from October 25 through October 31. Avoid overlapping rules unless you have verified how campaign priority works.

Match the offer deadline

If a discount ends at midnight but the label remains visible, customers may see a promotion they can no longer redeem. Test the schedule and time zone before launch.

Step 6: Preview on your storefront

Preview the label on several representative products before publishing:

  • A product with a light image.
  • A product with a dark or visually busy image.
  • A discounted product.
  • A sold-out product.
  • A product with a long title.
  • A product that already has another badge or label.

Then check at least one collection page and one product page on both desktop and mobile. Confirm that the label is legible, does not cover the main product detail, and agrees with the price and offer shown elsewhere.

Step 7: Publish and verify the live experience

Publish the campaign, then open the live storefront in a private browser window. Visit a targeted product and an untargeted product to confirm both inclusion and exclusion rules.

Complete one test journey:

  1. Open the Halloween collection.
  2. Select a labeled product.
  3. Choose a variant.
  4. Add it to the cart.
  5. Confirm the discount and campaign message remain accurate.
  6. Check the experience on a phone.

If the label does not appear, review the campaign status, start time, targeting rule, theme integration, and app embed before changing the design.

Common mistakes to avoid

Labeling products that are not eligible

Verify manual selections and tag rules. A seasonal label should never imply a discount or limited status that the product does not have.

Covering important product imagery

Try another corner or reduce the label size. Review multiple image aspect ratios instead of testing only one product.

Running several labels at once

Set campaign priority and choose the most useful customer message. “20% Off” is generally more actionable than displaying “Halloween,” “Bestseller,” and “Limited” together.

Forgetting the end date

Every seasonal campaign needs a cleanup plan. Schedule the label to end, confirm the discount expiration, and review the storefront on November 1.

Publish your Halloween labels

Start with one label campaign, test it on a small product group, and expand only after the rules and placement look right.
