Shopify Web Pixel captures selected customer events
MP Tracking Pixel
Send Shopify storefront and checkout events to GA4 with server-side delivery.
MP Tracking Pixel combines Shopify Web Pixels, a managed collector, and the GA4 Measurement Protocol so merchants can configure ecommerce events, product item matching, storefront gtag.js, DebugView testing, and monthly usage in one focused app.
Tracking pipeline
A practical path from Shopify events to GA4 reports.
The app captures Shopify customer events, validates delivery settings, maps ecommerce parameters, and sends the selected events to Google Analytics 4.
Managed collector receives storefront and checkout payloads
Collector validates config, quota, and enabled events
GA4 Measurement Protocol sends ecommerce events server-side
GA4 setup
Connect the tracking destination without rebuilding analytics.
Merchants add the GA4 values they already use, then decide which storefront and checkout events should be delivered. The current app model keeps this focused with one GA4 Tracking ID per store.
Connect GA4 once
Add a GA4 Measurement ID and Measurement Protocol API secret to create the store tracking destination.
Choose ecommerce events
Control which Shopify customer events are sent to GA4, from product discovery through checkout and purchase.
Match product reporting
Select an item_id mapping that matches Google Merchant Center, Google Ads, or your Shopify product feed.
Ecommerce events
Track the shopping journey from discovery to purchase.
MP Tracking Pixel maps Shopify customer events into GA4 ecommerce events, so reports can follow the journey from collection and product views through cart, checkout, and completed orders.
Recommended setup
Keep default ecommerce events enabled for most stores, then review less critical events first if monthly usage gets high.
Product matching
Choose the GA4 item_id format that matches your feed.
The item_id setting helps GA4 ecommerce items line up with Google Merchant Center, Google Ads, and product feed identifiers.
Shopify variant ID

Usage visibility
Understand monthly tracking usage.
- Monthly event usage is calculated by UTC month
- Events processed can include sent, failed, and blocked events
- Tracked purchases are deduplicated by order, checkout, or event identifiers
- Purchase delivery can retry when GA4 returns a temporary error
Testing
Verify events in GA4 Realtime or DebugView.
Turn on GA4 DebugView mode while testing, enable storefront gtag.js with the Tracking snippet app embed when needed, then trigger storefront actions and review matching events in GA4.
DebugView should be turned off again after testing.
Quick setup
Start sending events in a clear sequence.
The setup flow is designed around the real merchant tasks: connect GA4, decide what to send, align product identifiers, enable storefront support when needed, then test.

Questions
Common merchant questions.
Does the app replace a manual pixel setup?
It uses Shopify Web Pixels and a managed collector so merchants can send selected ecommerce events to GA4 without maintaining a custom storefront script.
How many GA4 Tracking IDs are supported?
MP Tracking Pixel currently supports one GA4 Tracking ID per store.
When do I need the Tracking snippet app embed?
Enable it when gtag.js on storefront is turned on, especially when testing events in GA4 DebugView.
Why can processed and sent event counts differ?
An event can be processed but not sent if it is disabled, credentials are invalid, GA4 returns an error, quota mode blocks delivery, or no active Tracking ID exists.
